[debbisue 2009-08-02 21:12:50]: If your dog seems sad and kinda slow there is a reason behind that. Dogs often reflect what humans are feeling. When you are sad, so is your dog. They project what you are feeling in the inside even though you don't show it. Simple remedy for this is for you to be happy. :D One way to also help is play with your dog once in a while. Bring her outside, To the mall or the cafe or anywhere that you two can bond. Make an alone time with your dog. Dog massages also help to relax and pacify your dogs "problems and stress" |

Dog jealousy
When you want to dd an addition to your family, like a new dog, you should first take note of what your older dog might think. It's like what they said, dogs are so much like humans. Its normal for human to be jealous with htings that are not familiar with them. Or if they feel that they are left out. So you should consider your dogs feelings too. Dogs get jealous because when they see a new baby or a new pet getting attention, they feel neglected and left out. Dogs are pack animals, and anything that makes it appear like they are being kicked out of the pack they do not like. Here are following guidelines to think about: 1. Include your old dog with activities with the new pup. 2. Let your dog play with your pup. Make him familiarize with the new addition. 3. treat your dogs equally to avoid feeling left out. 4. Be fair with toys, food, etc. 5. Make them both happy with each other. Good luck with the dogs. Update us soon what happens. |

Is e-collar advisable for dog training?
One of the most common reasons for a pet to wear an e-collar is because he or she is recovering from surgery. Many animals bite or lick at their surgery sites, potentially causing an infection or tearing stitches out. The e-collar prevents this behavior, promoting a rapid and healthy recovery. It is especially important in the case of an animal with stitches, since torn stitches can be difficult to repair. Some veterinarians also use an e-collar in the treatment of dermatitis and hot spots on the skin. Severe dermatitis can be accompanied with extreme pain and itching, and many animals instinctively bite or snap at the area in the hopes of getting rid of the pain. This can cause the condition to get worse, and it is also possible for an animal to injure itself very severely. Some see that this is helpful, but if your dog doesn't need to recover from any condition as I stated earlier settle for a more convenient way to train your dog. You don't really need an e-collar. here is a video clip by national geography on how to use your e-collar properly http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/videos/feeds/cv-seo/Dog-Whisperer/All-Videos/Cesar-Explains-the-Electronic-Dog-Collar see it for yourself and by then you will know what to do. Always put in mind that your dos safety should be the first priority. |

Peeing on the bed
Just as human toddlers and children, dogs go through developemental phases.. That (7-9 months) is about the age a dog becomes aware of his vulnerability, and begins to pee where the scent of his or her pee is covered by the master's, his protector.. they sense that the unknown 'boogieman' can find them by their scent, so disguise it by peeing on the bed or couch where the protector's scent is the strongest.. Search for new ways on how to potty train your dogs. :D just remember don't scold them. Scolding will never help. Itwill just drag your away. |

About the jealousy thing with your dog, try to make them acquainted with the new addition, its like when you bring home a new born kid. include the dogs when you are playing with the new pup. Don't forget to make your dog feel that he is still loved and make your dog part of everything you do with the new pup. make hi feel that he is still important.

aggressive breed
When it comes to male or female breeds, it really depends. Here are some list of aggressive dogs :
Chow Chows are one-person dogs that tend to bite without any warning. They are also a bit ferocious around strangers, and can be quite a tenacious fighter. So make sure to discipline this dog and set right from wrong, immediately. The Papillon is fiercely loyal of their owners - to a fault. They can be quite possessive and standoffish to strangers. Old English Sheepdogs are very protective of their owners so they might be aggressive if anybody tends to be too close to its owners. The Pekingese isn't all that tolerant of strangers. Miniature Pinschers usually have aggression issues because they've got this "big dog-little body" mind set going on. Chihuahuas aren't too fond of kids. They'd rather be with adults than play around with tots. Toy Poodles bite people and other animals out of self defense. Unfortunately, 'playing' according to you may be perceived as a form of 'attack' to them. Dachshunds aren't known for their patience. Jack Russell Terriers are feisty creatures who require early training to prevent long-term biting and digging problems. Giant Schnauzers are very dominant. They often challenge adults, particularly strangers. So if you have kids or old folks in your house, try to be careful with these dogs. :D but if you can train them immediately, the more they'll get tame. :D [pugster 2009-08-02 08:24:20]: Which dogs are more aggressive? Try a different approach to your training method. Make it more fun to the dog, do not pressure your pup or anything and don't do it routinely. Set days for training and make it more fun by incorporating different treats and methods and try bringing someone else to play with the both of you.

dogs usually takes time to adjust. Your dogs adopt what human behaviour shows. So its typical for your dog to be jealous at your new pup that you invest most of your time to. Remember to always divide your attention with the two dogs to avoidfights and domination. Give them equal of everything and in no time, they'll get along. |

Chosing a dog take a lot of thinking. depends the size, activity level, maintenance, and age. when choosing your dig, take note of your house size, also think about how much time you can invest in your dog specially when your working. Toy dogs are usually high in maintenance when it comes to grooming thanother dogs. You should often tke your dogs to a grooming salon if you want a professional touch. When it comes to age, pups are usually more active than the older one, so they need more attention from you. You should also take note of how big your family is.And also your budget that you can alot to your dog. They also need eveything that humans need. You can either buy a dog through shelters, pounds or througha resputable dog trainer. Whatver dog you buy, You should remember that they should match you. Your dog is your best friend so think wisely. :D |

I have the same problem before with my first puppy. But use the Internet to find effective methods with your dog. Just don't make any training vigorous before your dog also need the rest. Make it fun for your dog.

Alice is right. It's very harmful for your dog to use an e-collar. It would only hurt them and it wouldn't be an accessory that they would be loving to wear. Try finding different training methods for your dog. It's a waste of money too!
[alice22 2009-08-02 05:29:48]: There are a lot of ways to train your dog. For me using an e-collar is barbaric. Search the net for more effective ways to train your dog that won't harm them. Good luck in training your dog. |

Make your spitz familiar with the leash first. Then try training her inside the house or yard. Walk her everyday on the leash but don't force her to have it on. There are times when pups are stubborn but be patient. Your hard work will surely pay off when they feel comfortable with a leash. Just do it everyday. And try giving them treats every after training. |

Maybe your dog doesn't want to walk on the leash. Train him first to walk on a loose leash, train him to walk on that everyday. Make your pet familiarise with it. Then if they are comfortable, train them to walk without a leash on your own backyard before walking out to the streets to avoid the craziness. |

Make your pup get used to other dogs. Let them be familiarised with other breeds. Walk your dogs to where cars are. Walk him in streets, parking lots, highways. Important thing is, to make him get used to vehicles. Do this every day as training and your pup will surely ease with cars. |

Try different methods on how to potty train your dog. Plus give some days that they wont sleep on your bed. Give them their own space. Try the news paper trick first. Then when your pup pees on the news paper, try different potty training techniques from there. Happy training. |
