A spruced up, well behaved gentle dog is his master’s pride! Not only to make your neighbours envy, dog’s grooming is imperative to keep his good health as well!  The whole process of tiding up the dog is though not cumbersome, but it should not exceed beyond what is required! The grooming course can be categorised into five major steps.

  1. Hair Brush

Scruff looking and unmanageable hair takes away a lot from our personality. So it does for the dog.  A regular brushing of dog’s hair maintains a healthy coat and strengthen up the bond two of you share! Dogs having long hair need brushing everyday thus avoiding hair matting and tangling. Brushing once a week is just enough for the dogs that have moderate hair length while the short hair dogs can enjoy hair brushing therapy once in the whole month.

If your dog likes being brushed, you can take up this exercise daily regardless of the hair type he has. Daily brushing is very helpful at the time of hair shedding as it avoids hair build up and prevents excessive shedding.

  1. Trimming Of Nails

Every dog need nail trimming at least once a month. But before you take up this job in your hands, take a proper training of the procedure from a local vet. If not done so, you might cut the nail too short which will be very painful for the dog. And also it could make you and your dog reluctant to this exercise in future!

Filing the nails using proper tools is a better and painless method of dog’s nails grooming.

  1. Bathing

Though bathing your dog once in a week is not at all harmful but since many dogs do not enjoy the water strokes, bathing should be taken up at least once a month. While bathing your dog, strictly restrict to the soap less shampoo recommended by the vet.

  1. Care of Ears

The unclean ears of your dogs are bacteria’s paradise! If not taken up the ear cleaning at least once in a month, the dog may develop chronic ear diseases. The dogs blessed with long hair or floppy ears do not face much of problems as their ears remain less exposed. But in the cases otherwise, ears are the major issue of concern.

  1. Hair cuts

Long haired dogs have to visit their local groomers for a haircut as often as once in two weeks. This hob is best handled by the professional thus you should not try your hand in it!
