Being a responsible dog owner requires you to provide obedience training to your pet. If your dog is equipped with obedience training, it means that he is a well behaved dog who is also well adjusted. This means he has no problems in participating in his family life at home plus he is comfortable with the presence of other people.

In the UK, the number of dog attacks which occur in the country can be traced back to the lack of appropriate obedience training. If a dog has not been trained to follow the commands of his master, he becomes a nuisance to society and ends up as one of the social outcasts. This means he is unsafe to be around children and even to people who are in your own household. Aside from this, he holds a threat to your neighbors, people passing by your house, and even to the other dogs.

Since dogs generally have a pack mentality, they usually follow one leader. And with regards to your relationship, you must be the one he will look up to as his leader. Although it is important to shower your dog with affection and to love him, you must not let him forget that you are his master. This is usually where a lot of dog training methods go wrong.

It is important to have proper obedience training for your dog so that his view of life is not distorted. If a dog is confused, it is not a good thing because they like to have clearly marked boundaries. If there is a lack of training, there is a possibility that you both will encounter a lot of struggles filled with tension. You must not let your dog dominate you because it is one sure sign that your dog is becoming dangerous and is an undesirable trait.
 

Another reason why obedience training is important is so that you can be aware what your dog is doing at any given situation. This means that you can trust your dog to be left alone in the house when you are out because he is also aware that that is the type of behavior which is expected from him. If you have not given obedience training to your dog, you are endangering the lives of your own family because you are not certain how he will behave in a certain situation or to a person.

In the other hand, a dog which has been trained properly is more self assured and confident. This will also give you the confidence of having him loose inside the house and in the presence of other people. Obedience training has been proven to be stimulating to the mental capacity of a dog, thus it leads to the well being and happiness of your dog.
