Infection in Dogs
Dogs and puppies are prone to infections which may prove to be fatal if not treated appropriately. Some of the most common dog infections are Brucella Infection, coronavirus, rabies and herpes virus infection to name a few. Being a dog owner you should always make sure that you see a veterinarian at appropriate intervals to keep your dog away from any kind of health problems. Brucella infection involves an easily transmitted bacterium which enters into the dogs through mating with infected female or male. In this infection, the female dog looks healthy even if it carries the disease and the bacteria can enter your dog through urine or breeding. If you have a female dog and it breeds with an infected male dog, its foetus can get infected easily which can further cause illness. In case of male dogs, bacteria can be spread through urine or semen. In addition to this, such infections are also easily transferable to humans as well. So you should always take care while dog breeding seasons or can also consult your veterinarian for the same.
Coronavirus is one of the most commonly seen viruses in dogs which include symptoms of diarrhoea. This virus is very dangerous as it spreads through release of bacteria and protozoa virus in the atmosphere from the infected animal. The virus may release through urine, stool, respiratory secretions or vaginal discharges and it mainly affects puppies rather than adults. There is no permanent treatment for this deadly coronavirus infection, so if your dog faces any such disease, it should be forced to drink lots of water to avoid dehydration conditions. This is the reason that it is always advised to use commercial disinfectants and keep proper sanitation while breeding, kennel housing and grooming.
Rabies is a common virus that affects dogs and almost all the dog owners are familiar with this kind of infection. This virus enters when an infected dog bites a non infected canine or animal. However, virus remains in the saliva of the infected dog, but it is not necessary that the virus can only affect by biting. Once the infected dog has bitten someone, the virus starts affecting the brain and mixes with the salivary glands slowly. In dogs, it takes almost 4- 6 weeks to reach the brain and start showing its influence. Being an owner you should take effective measures to prevent rabies. For this purpose, rabies vaccination is the best alternative that can keep dogs and owners away from the risk of getting infected.
Canine herpes virus is generally called CHV and sometimes is the main cause of death in puppies aging 2-3 weeks. This virus mainly remains in the respiratory or reproductive organs in dogs and are easily transmitted to others while breeding. In puppies, it affects uterus and in some cases canines die in 2-3 weeks just after birth because of this virus. So, if you also want to keep your canine away from all kinds of infections and viruses, make sure that you carry out frequent veterinary examinations.
