Digging a hole or anything is a normal thing for dogs if there is any place that you can allow your dog to dig it will be better than making your dog dig anywhere they find.

Teach your dog to dig only in the box or bury toys, encourage them to do that always and when they does that you praise it, watch your dog keenly when it starts digging to other place you remove it there and return it to its box.

When you are not around maybe you have gone for work, put several toys in the box, your dog will not be bored and will spend most of its time digging in the correct place than digging your flower bed and messing up with the whole thing.

To avoid or stop your dog from digging you should make sure you do a lot of exercise to your dog this will make them more active and to stop them from digging. Your dog digs because they feel good when they do that, so the best thing to do is to put a wire in the place your dog likes digging and this will make it feel bad and stop digging.

When you are gardening put your dog inside because when he sees that you are gardening it will want to do exactly what you were doing and this will make him develop more skills of digging.

Boredom makes your dog do much of digging, so as the dog owner you must spend more of your free time with your dog, playing with him or talking, if this doesn’t work you can walk around with your dog or brush it.

Scents that come around your compound are other possible thing that makes your dog dig around your garden, as dogs use scents as a way on interacting with the surroundings, to make him stop this behaviors is to place a sprinkler around the garden so that when it start digging you can sprinkle it and the water will scare him away, if you do this most of the time your dog will know that he is not supposed to dig around the garden.

If you find your dogs most of the time digging around the compound it is maybe they are getting a good scent around your neighborhood that’s why it is doing that, the best thing to do is to take your dog for a walk around your neighborhood, by letting him explore the surroundings it will make him stop the curiosity of digging around the compound.

Make sure you take good care of your dogs by giving it good foods at the right time, do various exercises that make them not to be bored.
